Teacher

Thank you for visiting our site. As professional music teachers, we at BandWorks are interested in establishing relationships with the music teaching community, and including local music teachers in our referral program. Over the years, we have found that students who take BandWorks are often in need of additional instruction, and benefit greatly from the individual attention they get at private lessons. BandWorks students are typically highly motivated, and are often very committed to improving their skills and musicianship with the help of a private teacher.

Likewise, students in private instruction often discover new avenues of musical expression through taking part in our band workshops. Each year, we receive referrals of students from music teachers throughout the Bay Area. If you think some of your students might enjoy and benefit from BandWorks, by all means send them our way—we’ll be more than happy to place them in an appropriate band.

We are currently seeking qualified teachers to join the BandWorks faculty. If you are interested in learning more about teaching opportunities with BandWorks, please contact us at info@bandworks.com.

BandWorks regularly sends an e-newsletter to music teachers and students, featuring lots of information useful to musicians at all levels of experience. Each newsletter includes a teacher spotlight to help promote a local music teacher, as well as a gig calendar, musicians wanted section, gear for sale, and articles relevant to teaching and studying music. To subscribe to the BandWorks Newsletter, please visit the Newsletter page or send us an email.

Teacher Assistant - Summer Camp

TA Application Form 2013 - Online

The deadline to apply for Oakland is April 26, 2013.  All other locations may still apply through May 10th

We're looking forward to another summer of successful camps with BandWorks, and are excited to train more teaching assistants to work with kids in our programs this summer. We are looking for older teens who have a number of years of musical experience, preferably (but not necessarily) some experience working with kids, and who are enthusiastic, outgoing and self-confident. Here are the basic requirements to be considered for a TA position with BandWorks:

  • must be at least 15 years old as of June 1

  • must have at least 3 years experience on their primary instrument

  • ability on additional instruments a plus

  • previous BandWorks experience a plus, but not mandatory

  • the deadline for Oakland is April 26th.  All other locations may apply through May 10th.

We are looking for TAs for all of our summer locations: Oakland, San Rafael, San Jose, Los Altos, San Carlos, and Orinda. Location assignments will be “as-needed,” depending on the total number of campers at any given site, and for any specific camp program. Please note that Teaching Assistants work as volunteers and are not compensated. We do require that all TA's attend a short training.  BandWorks will provide proof of volunteer hours for students who need to show community service work.

To apply for a TA position, please fill out the online form above.

After we receive your application, we will let you know whether our Directors would like to have you come in for an interview . Please feel free to contact BandWorks with any questions or concerns.
